Ear wax removal in Nerja? Read this first
Let's be clear from the start: we don't remove ear wax. In Spain it's a medical procedure, so it has to be done by a doctor. What we do is clean and check your hearing aid when wax has blocked it, which happens far more often than people think.
If your ear feels blocked
To have wax removed from your ear, go to:
- Your GP at your local health centre (centro de salud), if you're registered here.
- An ENT doctor (otorrino) or a private medical clinic in Nerja, if you don't have a doctor here or don't want to wait.
In the meantime, don't put cotton buds or anything else in your ear: they tend to push the wax further in. And if you have pain, discharge or have suddenly stopped hearing, see a doctor as soon as you can.
If you still can't hear well once the wax is out, that's when we can help: come in for a hearing test.
If you wear a hearing aid and it sounds weak or dead
This is one of the things we see most. Wax gets into the part of the hearing aid where the sound comes out and slowly blocks it. People think their hearing has got worse or the aid is broken, and very often it just needs a proper clean.
Bring it in and we will:
- Clean it thoroughly: the hearing aid, the tube, the mould or the dome.
- Check the wax filter, if your hearing aid has one, and replace it if needed.
- Make sure it sounds as it should. If something is faulty, we'll tell you what's wrong and the price before doing anything.
